My Child's tooth is discolored

Take a deep breath! This happens quite frequently after a trauma. It could be something you didn’t even see happen and your child has never complained. The fall could have happened yesterday or a year ago! Anytime a child takes a spill and bumps his teeth, this can happen and there's no specific timeline on if/when you would see color changes. What you're seeing in the picture below is a discolored tooth - it's kind of like an internal bruise. The colors can range from yellow to this type of dark purple. Talk to us to find out more information and if anything needs to be done. The color of the tooth may darken or lighten over time. Generally, as long as your child does NOT have pain and there is no sign of abscess, the tooth can just be monitored with occasional x-rays.
