When will my child lose her first tooth?

As you've heard before, every child is different. A child's dental age (where a child is in her dental development) doesn't always correspond to her chronological age (how old she is). So we can tell you averages and general patterns, but there are frequent deviations from those averages and patterns, so don't worry if your child isn't following the timeline posted here.

Most kids get their first baby tooth between the ages of 6 months - 1 year and lose their first tooth around 6 years old. Usually the first tooth to be lost is one of the bottom front teeth. As a general rule, if your daughter was late in getting her teeth, she'll be late in losing her teeth.
